Norman Leo Mendelsohn's Obituary
Norman Leo Mendelsohn, 97, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026.
Norman was born on January 1, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He proudly served in the Korean War as a member of the Military Police.
Norm lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication, resilience, and deep love for his family. A hardworking and devoted provider, he worked three jobs at times to support his loved ones. For 28 years, he worked as a printer in New York City, where he was known for his integrity, strong work ethic, and commitment to his craft. Even while working night shifts, Norman found the energy to earn extra income by selling shoes during the same weeks.
Norman moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1981, where he worked for his son Fred in his business. After many years in Baltimore, he moved to Florida, where he started working for both of his sons, Fred, and Phil, until his retirement.
Beyond his work, Norman found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved watching the Weather Channel, cheering for the New York Yankees, and Tampa Bay Ray’s. He was known for his warm smile, gentle nature, and friendly personality. Norm had a gift for conversation and took immense pride in sharing stories about his wonderful family.
Norman was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte; his daughter, Debra; and his brothers, Bernard and Paul.
Norman is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marilyn; his cherished children, Fred (Laurie), Philip (Lisa), and stepdaughter Donna; his adored grandchildren, Cara, Jessica (Rob), Jennifer (Wade), Scott (Angela), Michelle (Alex), Justin, and Adam (Carly); and his precious great-grandchildren, Xavier, Drea, Caroline, Grey, Robert VII, Isla, Noah, and Tate.
