PAULA KAY ROSENBERG's Obituary
Paula Kay Rosenberg
Kay Rosenberg passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Bethesda East Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida with family members by her side. She will always be remembered for her fantastic smile, sharp intellect, and exuberant telephone greeting.
Kay was born in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1943 to Eva McCarty Stiner and Milton Stiner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Herbert Rosenberg and brother Milton Stiner, Jr. She is survived by daughter Janet (Garrett) Moore and their children, Garrett Jr. and Allison of Charlottesville, VA, son Jamie (Carole) Rosenberg of Aspen, CO, sister Sandy Stiner (Don) of Boynton Beach, FL, and daughter Kasandra (Rick) King of Alexandria, VA, and many nieces and nephews.
Kay graduated from Lawton High School in 1961 where she excelled both in her studies and in drama. She was accepted to a Summer Stock program in Billings, Montana her last year of High School. She continued her education at Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1964 with a degree in speech pathology.
Kay started her career in the public school system as a speech pathologist in Roanoke, VA. She then took a position in the Fairfax, VA school system. She later accepted a position in Whittier, CA and drove cross country in her little MG convertible to start her next adventure in the California School system. After a year or two, she met Jim Rosenberg, and it was love at first sight for both of them.
Kay was as devoted to Jim and his passions as he was to her. It’s hard to just talk about Kay after that—because “she” was now “they”. They did everything together. After a few years they moved to Maryland where Jim continued his career as a developer. Kay became an accomplished cook and Julia Child and Jacques Pépin were her favorite Chefs. Kay even stood in line at a bookstore in DC to have Julia sign her cookbook.
After Jim retired in 1991, they moved to Boca Raton, Florida and much later up the road to Boynton Beach. They loved to travel and took many trips all over the world with dear friends.
Kay lived with the effects of MS for the last 32 years and along with her friend Rhoda Ambach, started and ran an MS support group in South Florida.
Kay lived a long and happy life, but she was lonely after Jim passed away in 2020. The Family would like to thank her loyal, devoted caregivers, especially Betty Sanchez and Carlyne Pierre.
Kay will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, September 16th at 2:30pm at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel at 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL (located at the corner of Woolbright Road and Jog Road). In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society https://www.nationalmssociety.org
