Rae Herman's Obituary
Rae Herman, nee Goldman, passed away April 3, 2026, 2 months shy of her 100th birthday. Rae was born on June 5, 1926, in New York City, spending most of her childhood in Brooklyn, NY. She married the love of her life, Bernie, in 1944 and they remained married for 70 years. After their daughters, Marlene and Linda, were born, the family moved to Freeport, Long Island, where they lived until 1984 when Rae and Bernie retired and moved to Delray Beach, FL. They were both very active in their community, Bernie as a volunteer policeman and Rae on the tennis team as a very competitive player well into her eighties! After Bernie passed away, Rae moved to Pittsburgh, PA, to be near family.
Rae was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Molly (Spector) Goldman and her siblings, Jack (Min) Goldman, Sylvia (Irving) Berkowitz, and Toby (Abe) Greene. Rae was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Herman; the loving mother of Marlene (Henry) Etlinger and Linda (Paul) Richardson; the proud grandmother of Rebecca Etlinger, the late Sarah Etlinger, David (Anna) Etlinger, Daniel (Tabitha) Etlinger, Sara (Matthew) Fromm, Anne (Aaron) Robbin, and Deborah (Jeremiah) Demme; and loving great-grandmother of 11 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Ethan, and Sadie Fromm, Samuel and Madeline Robbin, Louis and Mavis Demme, Aurora and Orion Etlinger, and Lilith and Eleanor Etlinger.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Concordia of South Hills and the staff at Gallagher Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Temple Emanuel of South Hills, Temple Sinai in Rochester, NY, Mazon or an organization of your choice.
