Randy Sherman's Obituary
Randy Sherman, 66, passed away on March 6, 2018 in Delray Beach, Florida. Born in Norfolk, Virginia on March 22, 1951, Randy was the son of the late Florence and Martin Sherman. He was predeceased by his brother Samuel (Bobby) Sherman. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Roberta Sherman, and his constant canine companion, Sunny, who added so much joy to Randy’s life over the past 13 years.
Randy was a 1968 graduate of Granby High School. He graduated from Guilford College in 1972 and entered his family’s business, Atlantic Furniture Manufacturing Company. Randy served many roles at Atlantic, eventually becoming the President of the company. As the furniture manufacturing business began to change, Randy founded Atlantic Contract Furnishings, where he spent the remainder of his career furnishing hotels throughout the east coast.
Throughout his life Randy had a unique ability to make people smile, and he had an ability to quickly turn strangers into friends. He amused new and longtime friends with his entertaining and frequently amazing stories about the everyday happenings in Randy’s life that will never be forgotten by the many friends whose lives he touched.
Randy was an avid golfer and was a member of the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia for over 30 years. During that time he won the Member-Member tournament in 1991 and 2006, and was a past champion of the Mid-Winter Shoot Out. Many stories centered around his golf trips with friends. His quick wit and infectious humor will be missed by all.
