Rebecca "Becky" Gitlin's Obituary
Rebecca “Becky” Gitlin (Z”L) passed away Wednesday morning, September 21st, 2022 (25 Elul 5782) at the age of 91 in Spring Hill, Tennessee. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut on June 5th, 1931 to Jomtar “John” Arovas and Marie “Mary” (Russo) Arovas (Sephardic Jewish immigrants from Constantinople, Istanbul, Turkey). She is survived by her adoring husband of nearly 72 years, Lawrence “Larry” Gitlin, who literally tackled her on the high school football field and never let her go! She is also survived by her loving children, Marcia Fyler, Roger Gitlin (wife Heather), along with her brothers Louis Arovas and Robert “Bobby” Arovas, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Becky’s life was vibrant! She loved golf and tennis, theatre and traveling internationally. She enjoyed the sunshine, and it is only appropriate that she passed on the last full day of Summer. Larry and Becky lived in West Haven, Connecticut until 1985 when they relocated to South Florida. They resided in Gleneagles, Delray Beach from 1985 until 2019, when they relocated to Tennessee to be near family.
Becky will be laid to rest (on Sunday, October 2) at the Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach, Florida.
