Renee Pfau's Obituary
Renee Pfau passed away on Tuesday, February 25,2026 at Trust Bridge Hospice in Boca Raton just a few months shy of her 95th birthday. Predeceased by her loving husband, Harvey, who died in 2016, she is survived by her devoted daughter, Fran, her son Bruce, and his wife Amy, four grandchildren and spouses/partners—Ali (Jake), Dan (Heather), Jeremy (Laia), and Cory—as well as two great-grandchildren, Julien and Mikail.
Renee was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY during the Depression and the War years. She graduated from Lafayette HS and Brooklyn College and went on to teach elementary school for a brief time before marrying and raising her family. She and Harvey lived the American Dream, moving to a house on Long Island and through their hard work, providing their children with all the benefits of prosperity.
Although she was not observant, Renee was a proud secular Jew, inculcating her children in the disproportionate achievements of the Jewish people. Since the1980s and until her husband’s death, she enjoyed an active retirement life in Boca Raton playing golf, traveling, and socializing with a wide group of friends. Later, she lived in Edgewater at Boca Pointe, a continuing care community.
Renee’s final two years were difficult mentally, physically, and emotionally. But despite her challenges, and the fact that she outlived virtually all her friends and contemporary relatives, when asked how she was doing, she most often responded: “Hunky dory”. May her memory be a blessing.
