Rhea Adele Plotka Anides (nee Koven), 91, of Lake Worth, Florida, died peacefully at home on May 7, 2021
Rhea was born on April 21, 1930 in New York City to Saul and Bella Koven. He father, an immigrant to the United States from Lithuania, was a delicatessen owner in the Bronx, while her mother, originally from Philadelphia was a homemaker.
Rhea was raised in the shadow of the Yankee Stadium in the Bronx along with her two siblings, Lewis and Lila. Rhea graduated from Walton High School in the Bronx in 1948 and went on to marry her first husband Harold Plotka in 1957.
Rhea and Harold were happily married for 20 years and raised two children, Abby and David, in the Bronx and Westchester County. She remarried Carl Anides in 1985 and together they shared a happy second marriage that lasted 35 years, mostly in South Florida.
Rhea was preceded in death by both of her husbands.
An extremely devoted mother and wife with many talents, Rhea was a hardworking and resilient woman who took on whatever challenges came her way. At an early age she was tasked with taking care of her younger siblings and helping out in her father’s store. As she matured she found work as an executive secretary in a variety of corporate settings where she proved herself to be highly proficient.
Rhea also found time to “smell the roses” and enjoy life. She was a talented cook, hostess, entertainer, actress, and ballroom/Latin dancer. In her retirement years she and Carl enjoyed travel to Israel, Alaska along with other interesting destinations.
Rhea is survived by her sister, Lila Goodman, daughter Abby (Donn Henshaw) Plotka, son David (Monica) Plotka along with 4 grandchildren; Harris Henshaw (Crystal), Stephen Henshaw, Hannah Plotka, and Henry Plotka.
