Rhoda Napelbaum's Obituary
On Saturday February 1, 2020, Rhoda Napelbaum, our loving and compassionate wife, mother and grandmother passed “Over the Rainbow” at the age of 90.
Rhoda was born on October 30, 1929 in the East New York section of New York City to Max and Rebecca Horowitz. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School and her first job was as a bookkeeper for a textile manufacturer in the Manhattan garment district. On January 14, 1951 Rhoda married the love of her life, Marvin Napelbaum. Together they built an enduring and loving life together raising their three daughters: Marla, Beth and Hope and son, Eric. Rhoda and Marvin lived in Queens N.Y. until the mid-1970’s when they moved to Westport, Connecticut to start a family business. They retired to Boca Raton, Florida around 1982 and then moved to Fort Collins, Colorodo two years ago.
Rhoda’s greatest joy was spending her entire life focused on caring for, and being with family, friends and all others that were lucky enough to meet her. She always focused on the positive in people and never complained about anything. She loved to travel with Marvin and life-long friends around the world, but equally loved to take vacations with her children and grandchildren regardless of the destination. Rhoda was also an active member of Hadassah throughout her life, serving as local chapter president when she lived in Florida. While small in stature, she had the heart of a giant.
Rhoda is survived by her husband Marvin Napelbaum, daughters Marla Wexler and her husband Jeffery, Beth Trahan, Hope Clark and her husband David and son Eric Napelbaum and his wife Christine, along with 10 grandchildren. Rhoda is also survived by her sister, Sondra Teitel. Rhoda is preceded in death by her parents Max and Rebecca Horowitz and brother Seymour Horowitz.
Services will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton, Beach Florida on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM EST. Interment will be at the Veterans Association Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida that same day. The family invites you to make a charitable contribution in Rhoda’s memory to Hadassah at https://www.hadassah.org/, or to any charity of your choosing.
