Richard Seserman's Obituary
Richard Seserman, 92, died peacefully on December 29th in Delray Beach Hospital after a brief illness. Dick Seserman was raised in Colchester, CT where he met Laura, his wife and best friend for the next 77 years. He attended the University of Connecticut then obtained his law degree from Harvard University.
After two years of practicing law in Texas for the Air Force, Dick and Laura returned to Hartford where he practiced law and raised a family of three girls. Dick and Laura enjoyed sports as active participants in bowling and golf leagues. He was also an avid fan of the University of Connecticut Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams.
As their girls graduated from college and started their professional and family lives, Dick and Laura moved to Delray Beach in 2003 to escape the New England winters and pursue their passion for golf with Mary and Bernie. Dick had a very sharp and active mind. Besides his successful law practice, Dick was an avid reader, followed news and politics and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with Laura. But besides his family, UConn Basketball and golf were his passions. He loved sports. We fondly remember him with the television remote on weekends following simultaneously football, basketball, baseball, golf or any other sport that was on TV. He was one of the first to purchase videos games so he could play golf and baseball during the winter months.
Dick was a loving and caring father to his three daughters. The whole family enjoyed many road trip vacations listening to show tunes and playing I Spy or 20 Questions. As the family expanded, the house on Whippoorwill Way was a holiday gathering place for the three generations with Dick at the head of the table. On other weekends, it was the pizza and grinders with Papa and Grandma that brought us together. Once Dick and Laura moved to Florida, the family remained close with weekly calls and occasional visits.
The Seserman family remains close. Dick is survived by his wife Laura, his three daughters Debbie (Steve Collins), Susan (David Borzelleca) and Diane (Joe Corraccio). Papa will be missed by his grandchildren Ben Collins, Matthew Collins, Daniel Borzelleca (Whitney), Katherine Borzelleca, Heather Corraccio and Carley Corraccio as well as his great grandchildren Ari, and Harper Borzelleca.
Richard Seserman will be laid to rest with a ceremony for family and friends at the Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach on January 3rd at 1:45 pm. Interment will be private. A reception will follow at the Duffy’s Sports Grill in Delray Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, www.peggyadams.org.
