Richard B. Sodikow's Obituary
Richard Burton Sodikow, 75 years of age, died on May 4, 2014, with family by his side. Originally from the New York City area, he was most recently residing in Boynton Beach, FL. Mr. Sodikow was a beloved teacher, coach, and mentor at the Bronx High School of Science. He was recognized as an outstanding leader and Hall of Fame Member of the National Speech and Debate Association (formerly the National Forensic League), of which he was a member for more than 40 years. Richard led a Boy Scout troop for many years. He was a Shakespeare scholar, an art and music enthusiast, and a devoted Yankees fan. He is survived by his sister, Dr. Nettie Birnbach, his three nieces, Sarah Birnbach, Lois Wolf, and Jane Birnbach, and by many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Richard B. Sodikow Policy Debate Endowment Fund to support his legacy in the organization’s longest running event or the Sodikow Memorial Fund for Speech & Debate at The Bronx High School of Science, 75 West 205th Street, Bronx, New York 10468 . The memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Beth Israel Boynton Chapel at 10:00AM.
