Selma Weinstein's Obituary
Selma Weinstein died peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on January 16, 2025. She was born on November 29, 1927 and lived a full life of 97 years. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, William (Bill) Weinstein (z”l), after almost 65 years of happy marriage. Selma is survived by three children, Gary Weinstein (and his wife Julie Wiatt), Jodi Albert, and Robin Stoler. She is also survived by six grandchildren (Zachary Weinstein, Jared Albert and his wife Stephanie, Rose Bleiweis and her husband Alex, Mallori Hanna and her husband Chip, Lauren Stoler, and Gabrielle Stoler), and seven great-grandchildren (Adam and Benny Albert, Jamie and Molly Bleiweis, Yitzy, Mimi, and Doni Hanna).
Selma was born in Norwich, CT, to Rose (z”l) and Abraham (z”l) Arenberg. After high school, she moved to Manhattan and worked as a technical writer. She met and married Bill and they had their three children, and then moved to the Pikesville area of Baltimore, MD. Selma went to college, eventually receiving her Masters Degree in Social Work. She worked for many years at Springfield State Hospital. Later in life, Selma and Bill moved to Delray Beach, FL. Soon after Bill’s passing, Selma moved back to Maryland to be close to her family.
Selma and Bill enjoyed travel, sometimes with family and sometimes on their own or with friends. They took approximately 70 cruises and were known for their good dancing. Selma also enjoyed live music, art, Canasta, and Rummicub. She had many good friends throughout her life. And she loved spending time with her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel at 9:00 am on January 27, 2025, 5808 W. Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, FL. Burial will follow at 10:30 am at South Florida Veterans Cemetery, 6501 S. State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL.
