Selwyn mesmerized me with narratives of his basketball experience. He played with Red Holzman among other luminaries on the Workmen's Circle team, at Brooklyn College, and in the Eastern League. As head of the Men's Club at Coral Lakes, he invited me to lecture on Jewish Humor and Jackie Robinson. We carried on a heady correspondence over recent years marked by the loss of his beloved wife and the challenges of failing health. Ever resilient, Sel sailed through troubled waters and steered me in a positive direction when beset with tsores, I was sinking. Sel shepped nachas from children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as a true patriarch. Although he never finished his projected autobiography, Sel exemplified the good life, which, in the collective memory of relatives and friends, never ends. In sadness coupled with gratitude, I remember Selwyn Bauch, as a man for all seasons. Joe Dorinson
