Seymour "Steve" Mizels' Obituary
Seymour “Steve” Mizels of Delray Beach passed at his home Oct. 6 at 94 years old, with his dedicated and loving daughters at his side.
Born to Jacob and Regina (née Scherer) Mizels in the Bronx, New York on April 7, 1928, Steve grew up in the Great Depression, which shaped his love of family, friends, generosity, and the New York Yankees. Steve was a fiercely loyal friend, and proud and giving family man. He enjoyed attending prayer services at local conservative temples. He loved socializing and playing weekly poker games, reading the newspapers and talking sports (and checking in with his broker - often.) His quick wit never failed to elicit laughs. He joined the Marines during the Korean War, training in San Diego.
Poppy Handsome provided wisdom and enjoyed spoiling his four grandsons, often slipping a fresh twenty-dollar bill into their hands as children along with the firm directive, “don’t tell your mother.”
Steve, formerly of Forest Hills, New York and Delray Beach, Florida, was the proud husband of 65 years to wife Bernice (née Neustater) Mizels, devoted father of Sharon (Gordon Alter) Mizels and Vicki (Art) Ellsweig, loving Poppy of Marlowe (Lauren) Alter, Clay Alter, Garrett Ellsweig and Adam Ellsweig, and a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews. His brother Paul predeceased him in 2014.
Steve rests beside his beloved Bernice at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach, Florida.
