Sheldon E. Fant's Obituary
Sheldon E. Fant, 87, of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away on November 15, 2019. He is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 67 years, Shirley Fant (nee Friedman). He was a loving and devoted father to his daughters Robin Steiner and Jodi Toren (husband, Robin Ader), son, Alan Fant (wife Cathy, who has been more of a daughter than ‘daughter-in-law.’) He had 6 grandchildren of whom he was enormously proud and loved dearly: Ryan, Scott, and Marissa Steiner (Daniel), Brad Fant (Jacqueline), Andrea Buggay (Devan), and Eliana Toren. He is also survived by his loving brother, Ray Fant and sister-in-law, Judy.
Shelly was born on September 1, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to Betty and Phil Fant. He was raised in Cleveland with his brothers Myron (of blessed memory) and Ray, with whom he shared a cherished lifetime of memories and a deeply close relationship. He went to Shaw High School and then to Ohio Northern in Ada, Ohio to become a Pharmacist. Shelly was a co-owner of Gateway Drug in Mayfield Heights on the east side, and Rose Drug on the west side of Cleveland. He loved his profession and was an active member of the pharmaceutical fraternity, AZO, during which time he cultivated many close friends and lifetime relationships. He was enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Shelly was an active member of Park Synagogue during the time he was in Cleveland and enjoyed affiliations to synagogues in South Florida during his lifetime. He enjoyed his family and had many diverse interests and hobbies. He loved music, sports, nature, photography, and was an avid reader. He Shelly was a golfer, a tennis and racquetball player, and a brilliant pianist. We are grateful for the cherished memories, guidance, love and dedication of Sheldon Fant.
Chapel services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 18th at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437 with Rabbi Lester Hering officiating as Rabbi, and Cantor Michael Glozman. Mr. Fant will be laid to rest following his funeral service at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, FL 33473.
