Shirley Dannemann's Obituary
Shirley Ann Dannemann, age 102, lived her life as she passed, with grace, elegance, conviction and style. On September 3, 2024, she left us peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. A true lady in every sense, Shirley was a style icon, talented golfer, a gifted pianist, an avid card player, and a devoted lover of music and the arts. She embraced life as a student of the world, with an unwavering curiosity and appreciation. Though she will be deeply missed, her remarkable life will be celebrated, as full and as wonderful as she was.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 7, 1922, Shirley Ann Dannemann was the cherished daughter of Pearl and Gilbert Katcher and the beloved younger sister of Samuel. After graduating high school, she pursued studies in psychology and business at New York University. In a true love-at-first-sight romance, she met Herbert Dannemann, and they went on to share 54 wonderful years together, building a vibrant and dynamic family. Their journey took them from Brooklyn to Westchester, where they raised their children, before eventually settling in Boca Raton for their later years. Shirley spent her final chapter in Aventura, surrounded by family and friends.
Shirley was the devoted mother of Donald Dannemann (Debra), Merilee Dannemann (Ken), and Sunny Weiner (Arthur), pouring her heart into raising her children. Family was her greatest joy and her most cherished gift. As a grandmother, she embraced her role with pride, guiding and loving Diana Cohen (Jonathan), Greg Dannemann (Ryann), David Dannemann, Christopher Weiner, Farryn Weiner (Simon), Amanda Alagem (Jon), and Austyn Weiner Lewis (Dylan). She was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to Sasha, McKenna, Campbell, Ireland, and Journey, as well as Henry, Noah, and Mia. Shirley leaves behind a lasting legacy: a strong, creative, and diverse family built on the foundation of passion, perseverance, love, and a fabulous outfit.
