Sollie J. Calderon
95 years old, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on May 2, 2020. He was born in Rochester, New York to Juda and Reyna Calderon. Sollie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois in 1950. He was a World War II Veteran. After the military, he worked in the family business, J. A. Calderon Tobacco of Rochester, New York. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Carolyn Calderon; children, Cheryl (Tom) Harkins and Debbie Mantel; grandchildren, Jessica Hudec and Joshua Brody from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Rivkah and Zach Lowenstein from Alexandria, Virginia, Rachel and Chris Newsome from Glasgow, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Nolan, and Ethan Hudec, Joey Newsome, Liv Lowenstein; nieces, Marlene and Elliott Smith from Boston, Massachusetts, Nancy Kaplan from Plantation, Florida, Judy Lichaa, from Tamarac, Florida; nephews, Stanley and Marlene Calderon from Chicago, Illinois, Jimmy Calderon from Washington, D.C.; brother-in-law, Dr. David (Sharon) Cross of Tampa, Florida. Contributions may be made in his loving memory to either the American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Research. Funeral arrangements in Florida are under the care of Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 W. Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33484. Mr. Calderon will be laid to rest at Britton Road Cemetery in Rochester, New York.
