Stanley Gerson Nerenberg's Obituary
Stanley G. Nerenberg, most recently of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away on December 20, 2022 at age 87.
Stanley was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York by his parents William and Anne Nerenberg. He attended P.S. 192, Montauk Junior High School, and New Utrecht High School, and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the City College of New York. He completed basic training with the Army at Fort Dix in 1958. As an electrical engineer he worked for Otis, Grumman, Bendix, and Sperry on various projects including designing the elevator in the Washington Monument and the Apollo Lunar Excursion Module. He eventually retired after 20 years as an administrative judge for the State of New Jersey Division of Unemployment Insurance.
Stanley was active in various community organizations over the years, primarily in Fair Lawn, NJ where he lived from 1966 until 2013. He served as President of the Men’s Progress Club at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center. As an active member of the Fair Lawn Independent Democrats, he served for many years on the Planning and Zoning Boards as well as the Borough Council. After relocating to Boynton Beach, FL, he volunteered with the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Citizen Observer Patrol (COP).
Stanley is survived by his loving wife Barbara, their two sons Jonathan and David, David’s wife Rabbi Elyse Wechterman, grandchildren Avinoam, Maxwell, Rachel and Sharon, his sister Carole Reidlich and her husband George, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
