My own kids are about to start braces and I thought to look up my orthodontist back in the early 1980s. Dr. Okun. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I had the best time at his office! I'd sit and read Highlights magazine in the waiting room and then, when it was my turn, he would literally pick me up and throw me over his shoulder and carry me to the dental chair. I still get compliments on my smile to this day!
As a 5 yr old I was taken to the dentist on my block in Brooklyn(Bensonhurst) to fill a cavity and as he tried to give me „ laughing gas“, I bit his hand!…so my mom had later reminded me
25 years later , living then in Manhattan, I went to a recommended midtown dentist, Stanley Okun, and talking about where we grew up, discovered that the hand I‘d bitten was his fathers!,We had a good laugh.
Okun Family: I was very sadden by Stanley’s death. He was our family orthodontist and created beautiful smiles for my daughters Beth and MaryKate. But he was more than that : the office which he, Theda and Dr Judith maintained was a warm and caring environment where my teenagers were happy to go. Beth returned to the practice long after we moved from Rye Brook for updates.
