Susan James' Obituary
Susan Fay James, was born in New York on August 27th, 1945 and died on July 31st, 2022. She lived most of her life in NYC, the city of her dreams, and had notable stays abroad, including 2 years in South Africa, as well as Florida. She battled lung cancer for almost 3 years and passed peacefully in the presence of loved ones.
Susan James was recognized as one of the very top real estate brokers in New York City. During her extraordinary career, she has sold well in excess of a billion dollars of residential real estate culminating at The Trump Corporation. For the past 24 years she was the Director of Residential Sales at the world renowned Trump International Hotel and Tower on Central Park West. Her wisdom and expertise evolved after years of cultivating strategic relationships while representing Trump throughout Europe and Asia. As a result, Susan’s extensive array of global contacts were an invaluable asset in effectively bringing together the world’s top echelon of qualified buyers and sellers.
Susan’s meticulous attention to detail and passion for her work enabled her to exceed clients’ expectations while her integrity, creative deal-making, and level of professionalism earned the trust of both clients and industry peers. She prioritized an exceptional level of personal care and individualized service. Her values of Integrity, Sincerity, and Service were her north star and came directly from her parents Ruth and Harold.
As quoted by Donald Trump in his book, How To Think Like a Billionaire: “Susan James, who runs my sales office at Trump International Hotel & Tower, is one of the most elegant people you will ever meet, and her elegance isn’t an act. Neither is her integrity. She remains friends with her clients for many years after they are happily ensconced in their apartments. She is clear about what she is presenting to her clients before, during, and after, and it’s clear that she cares about what she is doing. That’s the mark of a great broker, and she’s a perfect example.”
Susan is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Peter and Diane James, her nephew Mark James, her nephew Lee James and his husband Aly, and numerous other relatives.
A small private funeral will take place in August. Donations can be made in her honor to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
