SYLVIA RAELYNN MERVIS's Obituary
Our beloved Sylvia Raelynn Mervis passed away unexpectedly at Bethesda Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida on August 19, 2020. Sylvia was born February 10, 1987 in Logan, Utah to Barry and Cindy Cartwright Mervis. Sylvia grew up in northern Utah and the Baltimore, Maryland area. While in Utah she formed life-long friendships through her participation in Job’s Daughters. Sylvia graduated from the University of Maryland in 2009 with a Bachelors degree and was on the Dean’s Honor List. She continued her education in sunny South Florida, receiving a Bachelor’s in Nursing degree from the University of Miami in 2011. Sylvia was a dedicated nurse with the VA Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. She loved being a nurse. She always committed herself to take care of others before taking care of herself.
Sylvia met her husband, Ryan, through their shared career in nursing. They have loved raising their son, 5 year old Jack, together and were over the moon with excitement about welcoming daughter Ava into the family 4 weeks ago. Words can't describe how much she loved her family and the time she had with them.
From the mountains in Utah to the South Florida coastline, Sylvia loved Zumba, dancing, holiday events with the family, social dinners and brunches, going to the pool, going on vacations, and just spending quality time with her family at home. She was a hardworking, loyal, loving, caring, strong and feisty woman who loved her family and friends very much! She loved to laugh and always carried the biggest and brightest smile.
Sylvia was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, daughter, niece, cousin, and friend who touched the lives of everyone around her. Sylvia leaves behind many people in her life including husband Ryan, son Jack and newborn daughter Ava (Boynton Beach, FL), her brothers Abe (West Haven, UT) and Joe (Lake Worth, FL), Uncle Ron and Aunt Annie, cousins Matthew and Dylan (Salt Lake City, UT), mother-in-law Peggy (Boca Raton, FL), and many dear friends all across the country that were like extended family to her. Sylvia was preceded in death by parents Barry and Cindy, and grandparents Jack and Sylvia Mervis.
A Memorial Service will be planned for a later date.
We are all very lucky to share memories with such a sweet and genuine person. Sylvia is one of the most beautiful angels in the sky and is now reunited with her mom, dad, and grandparents. We can all find peace knowing this and knowing she is looking down at us with love for each one of her family and dear friends.
