Temi Briner's Obituary
Thelma “Temi” Briner passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on January 30, 2017 at the age of 89. She is survived by her devoted and always loving husband of 68 years, Jerry Briner, her brother Sidney Rubin of Sunrise, Florida, her son Jeff Briner of Framingham, Massachusetts, and her daughter Carol Briner (Jerome) Packard of Champaign, IL. Temi will be deeply missed and cherished by her family, including four grandchildren, Errol (Emilia) Packard, Sam Packard, Eric Packard, Taylor Briner, and two great-grandchildren, Miriam and Freddie Packard. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma.
Temi often talked about “my beautiful life”, and created for herself and her family a life of beauty and style that she could only have imagined as a child. Born in New York City, the 7th of 8 children of poor immigrants Jacob and Sarah Rubin, she and Jerry worked hard together to create a wonderful, fun and prosperous life for their family. Although Temi will be sorely missed, she is now able to rejoin her beloved parents and six siblings who have preceded her in death: Freida (Sam) Duke, Rose Rosenthal, Ralph Rubin, Louis (Judy) Rubin, Saul (Belle) Rubin, and Paula (Izzy) Lesovoy.
Temi was always very active in each community she lived in. In Framingham, Massachusetts she was active in the Temple Beth Shalom community and her children’s Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops. When she and Jerry retired to Boynton Beach, Florida she served as president of a local City of Hope chapter, and created beautiful costumes for the annual musicals put on by the Boynton Beach Lakeridge Greens community. Many of her Framingham friends followed her to south Florida, resulting in lifelong close friendships. In the last few years of her life she was able to meet and spend lots of time with her great-children, and was for them a reliable source of joy, songs, and cookies.
A celebration of Temi’s life will be held on Sunday, February 5 at 2 PM at the Beth Israel Memorial Chapel – Boynton Beach, 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437, Telephone: (561) 732-3000 followed by entombment at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens..
