Zelda Baron's Obituary
Zelda Ruth Baron passed peacefully at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida in the early morning of September 12, 2024. She was 92.
Zelda was born in White Plains, NY on April 8, 1932, to Madeline and Benjamin Golden. Along with her older sister, Carol, Zelda grew up in a close-knit, loving family. After graduating from White Plains HS in 1949, Zelda attended the University of Wisconsin for three years and graduated from NYU as an English major.
She transferred to NYU before her senior year because she met the love her life, Stanley Baron (then Berenberg) that summer at Oakland Pool on Rye Beach, near Playland Amusement Park. If her life with Stanley was described as a Playland ride, it would be the Tunnel of Love (technically “Ye Old Mill” if memory serves). They married on June 5, 1953, and enjoyed 71 years of wedded bliss.
Zelda’s life was filled with joyous activities. She enjoyed attending Broadway shows, traveling the country and the world, and sports including golf, tennis, and skiing. She cherished time spent with family and friends. Highly intelligent, Zelda was an avid reader. For decades she recorded every book she read on a series of index cards. It’s quite a list!
Zelda was predeceased by her sister, Carol and grandson, Corey. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Stanley, daughter Lisa (husband Steve), daughter Beth, and son Ben (wife Christine). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lindsey (husband Evan), Jessica, Stephanie, Tyler (wife Jordan), Neta, Talya, and Corey’s fiancée Natasha; nephews Marc, Sandy, Michael, Aaron and Larry and their spouses; and great granddaughter, Frankie.
Known for her intelligence, sharp wit, elegance, beauty, and love for family and friends, Zelda will be celebrated and dearly missed. What a wonderful life she led! May her memory be a blessing.
