Edward John Bauer

Edward John Bauer of Boynton Beach, Florida, died on Monday, March 14, 2022. He was 78 years old. Edward was born on September 29, 1943, to John Leonard Bauer and Julia Kalman Bauer of Astoria, NY. He graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor's degree in January of 1965 and received a Master of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in June of 1970. He had a successful career in information technology. He spent his early career as an employee of Connecticut Container in North Haven, CT. He later worked as an independent consultant, advising clients that included Fortune 500 companies. Edward was also a brilliant mathematician with a passion for teaching and an avid tennis player. On July 4, 1965, Edward married his Hunter College classmate, Helen Jean Braunschweiger. They moved to Hamden, CT, where they raised a family together, including his beloved daughter, Jan Bauer. Edward and Helen were married for fifty years, until she passed away from illness in 2015. Edward was a devoted husband and caretaker until her death. After becoming a widower, he met and fell in love with Wilma Deutsch. They married in September of 2018. Edward is survived by a loving family, including his wife, Wilma; his daughter, Jan; his stepchildren, Andrew Miller and Emily Miller; his grandchildren, Julia Orosz, Jean Orosz, Daniel Miller, and Jack Miller; and his two dogs, Moses and Zipporah. A service will be held at 12:15 p.m. at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Delray Beach, FL. Visits with the family will begin at 11:30 a.m. Edward was devastated for the Ukrainian people, who continue to suffer a brutal and unjustified Russian invasion.
