Anne Steele ( nee Nagel )'s Obituary
Anne Steele (nee Nagel), of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Merrick, NY, passed away February 24, 2025, at the age of 103. Anne led a remarkable life and was beloved by everyone with whom she came in contact. She had a keen business sense, that began early on when she translated for her immigrant father, a tailor, in Brooklyn, NY. After obtaining her real estate license, in the 1960s she started her own successful real estate brokerage, Anne Steele Realty, with offices in Merrick and Bellmore, NY, at a time when few women worked outside the home, much less owned their own businesses. She and her husband David were so proud of the pink marble office building on Merrick Road that they developed and that housed one of their real estate offices. When not selling real estate, Anne loved to go on cruises, frequently with extended family members. Her social life revolved around her family, whether it was trips to the casinos with her siblings and their spouses or international trips with her children and grandchildren. Her multiple visits each year to Atlanta and Philadelphia gave her grandchildren the chance to experience what her children already knew, what a fantastic person Anne was.
She is survived by her children, Cliff (Jane) Steele, of Atlanta, GA; Wayne (Angela) Steele, of Coconut Creek, FL; Steve (Valerie) Steele, of Richboro, PA; and Elida (Alan) Baverman, of Atlanta, GA; and her siblings, Blanche Kulawitz, of Delray Beach FL; Alan Nagel, of Boca Raton, FL; and Esther Niditch, of Boca Raton, FL. She also is survived by grandchildren Halley (Paul) Morochnik, Dara
(Jeff Belkin) Steele-Belkin, Jason (Janna) Steele, Michael (Queenie) Le, David Steele, Ashley (Steve) Simpson, Dayna (Nick) Tann, Ariel Baverman, Jessica (Emet) Ozar; and Devon (Jacob Ansbacher) Baverman, and great grandchildren Rachel and Zach (Adrianna Vera) Morochnik; Ilana, Evie, and Ari Steele; Sabrina, Vivian, and Eli Belkin; Landon, Maddox, and Neo Le, and Alex Duong; Noah and Levi Simpson; Aiden, Kyle, and Hailey Tann; Shai, Yahli, Ori, and Nes Ozar; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, David Steele; her parents, Sam and Ethel Nagel; and her siblings Beatrice Godfrey and Frank Nagel.
Services will occur on February 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, Boynton Beach, followed by burial at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, Boynton Beach. Please omit flowers but donate in her memory to the charity of your choice.
