Bernie was born April 14, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA. He was raised in Philadelphia and graduated from West Philly High. Some of his fondest memories are of his friends from there. He went on to study Pharmacy at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He enlisted in the army in 1957 and served 2 years in Alabama. During this time on a blind date, he met the love of his life, his late wife Elaine. He asked her to marry him after the first date and they were wed in 1959.
Bernie purchased Sagin’s Pharmacy located in Southwest Philadelphia. He worked as a Pharmacist with Elaine helping and expanded it into Carecore a DME Company at a larger location. Achieving their dream, they worked together at Carecore until they both retired in 1990. Bernie and Elaine relocated to Florida and spent their remaining years there.
Bernie lived in Broomall PA with his family for 30 years. He was involved in the synagogue and was a community volunteer. He purchased a vacation home in the Poconos of PA and spent many wonderful times with his family there.
Whether he was working at the business, on vacation with his family, traveling with Elaine, playing golf or cards, Bernie made the most out of life. He cherished his family and was proud of all his children and grandchildren.
Bernie had many friends and made sure to keep in contact with as many as possible, even in his later years. He greeted people with a smile and a wave and did not hang up the phone until he said I love you.
