IKA CAMPBELL's Obituary
Ika Deloris Campbell, 78, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024.
Ika was born on March 6, 1946, in Montego Bay, Jamaica, to Georgianna and Caleb Hall. She grew up in Montego Bay. Upon moving to New York, Ika initially worked as a bank teller. On June 15, 1977, Ika proudly became a US citizen. Driven by her passion for healthcare, she studied at Long Island University, Helene Fuld School of Nursing, and St. Joseph’s College. She earned her LPN license in 1981 and shortly afterwards founded Del’s Comprehensive Health Care Registry Agency, Inc., a home health care agency that has positively impacted many lives. Ika continued her education and obtained her RN license in 1991. In 2001, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Health Administration.
On April 25, 1970, Ika married the love of her life, Hubert Campbell, Sr., nicknamed “Ruddy” and affectionately called “Ruds.” Together, they built a beautiful family and shared many wonderful years. She is survived by her loving children Hubert Campbell, Jr., Patrick Donovan Campbell, and Tiffany Rene Campbell; her cherished grandchild Marcus Jaiden Kugel-Campbell; and her siblings Carmel, Olive, Evadne, Eli, Leroy, Ashburn, Lorenzo, and Elaine, and a countless number of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ika was predeceased by her parents, Georgianna and Caleb Hall; her husband, Hubert Campbell, Sr., who passed away on May 13, 2014; and her siblings Vincent, Joshua, Renford, Hugh, Gloria, Iona, and Rubena.
Ika was known for her warmth, kindness, and her passion for bringing people together. When she lived in Brentwood, NY, she opened up her home every July 4th for a summer barbecue that everyone looked forward to. Although she did not always talk about baseball, she was an avid fan of the New York Mets and cheered loudly and proudly for them as she watched them win the World Series in 1986. She moved into her dream home in Miller Place, NY, before retiring to her home in Delray Beach, FL.
A memorial service to celebrate Ika’s life will be held on August 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Granby’s Funeral Service, 4021 White Plains Rd, Bronx, NY 10466. The family invites all who knew her to attend and share their memories.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time.
