I have only just found out very belatedly of the passing of my dear friend and colleague Ivan Lantos. Sadly we had lost touch following his retirement and move to Florida. I first met Ivan in April 1982 along with another dear friend and colleague, Dr Dave Tuddenham. We met in London and had dinner first in a celebrated Hungarian restaurant in Soho called "The Gay Hussar" which sadly recently closed its doors. Ivan got me into trouble with the bosses by ordering the most expensive bottle of wine on the list and made things worse by ordering a second bottle. We went on to enjoy a very special evening in a piano bar close to Piccadilly Circus. Ivan was attired in a white suit. Ivan was a joy to be with, always a lot of fun, but serious too when it came to chemistry. I will miss him very much.
