Ivan Lantos' Obituary
With deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear friend Ivan Lantos. Born in Budapest, Ivan escaped Hungary after the 1956 revolution and settled in Canada. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia) and his Ph.D at McGill University. After a post-doctorate at Princeton, he had a highly successful professional career working for GlaxoSmithKline for 30 years, creating some 85 patents. Ivan was a member of the American Chemical Society and the Congregation B'nai Jacob in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He was also an avid traveler, visiting six continents, skiing around the world, leaving behind dear friends in Budapest, Montreal, Philadelphia, Toronto and Delray Beach. He was known best for his fun-loving spirit, easy smile and oftentimes unfiltered (but welcomed) humor.
After a lengthy illness, he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his ever-caring wife, Krisztina, loving son Andrew and compassionate daughter-in-law, Rachel. A brief funeral service will be held in Florida. His friends are planning to hold a celebration of life next year in Montreal to remember his always joyful, loving and generous nature.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ivan Lantos’s memory to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation (https://www.alzinfo.org/donate/donation_form/)
