Joel Droker's Obituary
Joel Stuart Droker, 85, of Boynton Beach, Florida, formerly of Marblehead and Malden, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025.
Devoted husband of Eileen (Greenberg) Droker. Beloved father of Robin Duquette (Marc) and Laurie Rosenberg (Steven). Cherished grandfather of Madison Nadworthy (Bennett), Mathew Duquette (Aja Bergman), and proud great-grandfather of Sonny Duquette.
Joel was the son of the late Max and Anne Droker, and the brother of the late Beverly Solomon. He was loved deeply by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born and raised in Malden, Joel graduated from Malden High School where he was a basketball star and helped lead his team to a state championship. He went on to attend Northeastern University on a basketball scholarship. Joel served with honor in the National Guard for six years, achieving the rank of E-4 Staff Sergeant.
He began his career operating an auto service station in Suffolk Square, later moving the business to Eastern Avenue. After retiring from the auto business, Joel embraced his lifelong passion for sports and became a certified tennis instructor in both Massachusetts and Florida. With guidance from his Uncle Louis and training at the Vanderbilt Tennis Academy, Joel made tennis instruction the hallmark of his professional life.
Joel loved the water and owned several boats over the years. He was an active member of the Dolphin Yacht Club in Marblehead and a longtime member of Temple Emanuel. Joel and Eileen shared a deep love for music, dancing, and travel—frequently enjoying trips to Europe and the Caribbean.
More than anything, Joel cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A service will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437 on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 12:15 pm EST. with remote attendance available via
