MARLENE K. WEIL's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene K. Weil (nee Kravitz), age 85, born May 13, 1934, in Albany Park, Chicago. Marlene is survived by her beloved husband Reynold of 63 years who lives in Boynton Beach, FL.
Proceeded in death by her brother Ronald Kravitz (survived by his wife Rebecca), as well as her sister Beverly Greenhill. Loving mother of her 3 children David Weil (Naomi Weiss-Weil), Linda Weil (Steve Silk), and Randie Weil-Leprince (Guy Leprince), grandmother to Matthew Weil, Andrew Weil, Evan Weil and Gabriel Silk, great grandmother to Noah Weil. She developed a large, rich and loving family of cousins, nieces, nephews and a rich community of friends.
Marlene Weil was a mountain of a person. She was a force. In a different time, she certainly could have been a CEO. She was certainly the matriarch, but also the CEO of her family…and family is what her life was built on. When she spoke, people listened. When she walked, people followed. When people needed direction, she gave sage advice. Her deeply loving family was devoted to her as she was devoted to them. Known as Ma, Mom, grandma, great grandma and often ‘Sissy’ to her family, Marlene grew up with little in her Orthodox family in Albany Park. But she and Reynold built their family business, M. Weil and Sons, into quite a meaningful meat packing company 1st in Chicago and then in Lemont, IL. She was the bookkeeper, Reynold ran the plant and the kids frequently worked packing meat during their time off. But whether it was a discussion about the family, the business, needlepointing or the last mah jong game, she was mentally acute and insightful throughout her days. To be sure, she will be missed by all, including her friends in Lexington Lakes.
Given the pandemic, funeral services will be held in Florida on Friday March 27th at 11:30 am edt at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, in Boynton Beach and may be attended if possible, via the following zoom URL
