Howard Sherman
I am Movitz motivated to share this story.
She shared with my 5th grade class a trip she and her husband took. Camping, I think. She mentioned a rock she found and took an interest in. She picked it up and took it with her. She then dropped this rock off at another site hundreds of miles away....
So the punchline goes.... ad libbing from memory what Mrs. Movitz told us some 40 years ago...That centuries later scientists would be puzzled by the discovery of this one unique rock so out of place with the others known to the area. Our own Mrs. Movitz may very well confound scientists decades or even centuries from now due to her single act of vicarious vandalism of nature itself in a harmless way.
This dear woman had a lot more to teach than the curriculum. It was difficult/impossible for pre-teens like us to appreciate this back then.
