Patricia Joan Lydon's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss on March 5 of Patricia Joan Lydon, 86, of Hartsdale NY and Ocean Ridge, FL. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, gracious, loving and charming to all who met or knew her. Born November 3, 1939, to the late William Kane and Matilda (Yersevich) Parker of Brooklyn, NY, Pat went on to graduate from Bishop McDonnell HS and trained in secretarial duties at the Katherine Gibbs School before embarking on a 63 year partnership with her husband William F. Lydon. Pat was a loving mother to Matthew Lydon of Tappan, NY, and Maureen Lydon of Hartsdale, NY as well as a proud grandmother to Alex Lydon of Tappan, NY. An avid beach lover, Pat met her husband on Fire Island NY during the summer of 1961 and their shared enjoyment of the ocean and beach was a large part of their journey together. As a couple, Pat and Bill enjoyed playing tennis, paddleball, golf, and skiing as well as traveling, and of course spending time at the beach. Pat was an animal lover, avid reader, NYT Crossword enthusiast, and keen card player - especially at bridge. Pat began her career on Wall Street before starting her family, and often reminisced of her time working at the 1964 World’s Fair in NYC. After moving to Scarsdale, NY in 1971 Pat added Real Estate Agent to her resume, and eventually became an Executive Assistant and Office Manager at Smith Barney in Purchase, NY, Pat and Bill purchased a retirement business during her last few years at Smith Barney, the Lido Motel in Montauk, NY. When Pat retired, she immediately found an apartment steps from the Atlantic and has been snow birding in Ocean Ridge every winter ever since. While blessed with many talents, Pat’s gift of being an engaging conversationalist stands out. Her graciousness as a hostess resulted in many memorable joyous family holidays.
A mass in her honor will be held March 11, 2026 at 11am at Saint Marks Catholic Church, 643 NE 4th Ave., Boynton Beach, FL, 33435.
