Obituary for SELMA ALLEN MOGUL
Selma Allen Mogul, age 92, passed on December 29th, 2020. Selma, second child to Harry and Ethel Lockowitz, was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 17th, 1928. The Lockowitz’s began not knowing how they could support a second child, but quickly grew to love Selma. As their faithful and loving daughter, no one could imagine how they could have gotten by without Selma.
Selma married Herbert Allen in 1950. They lived in Brooklyn, New York until they moved to Delray Beach, Fl in 1990. Selma loved music and dancing. After they retired, they become world travelers and visited over 20 nations. They had one son, Dana. Selma was married to Herb for 53 years, until she was widowed in December, 2003. Herb was hospitalized for 16 months prior to his death. Selma faithfully stayed with Herb almost every day during his long hospitalization.
Selma celebrated her 80th birthday by going to Kenya on a safari with son, Dana and daughter-in-law, Renae. She outdid herself the next year, 2010, when, at 81 years old, she married Norman Mogul. Selma was preceded in death by Norman in 2017.
Selma was a stay at home mom until she worked part time as a teller for Chase Manhattan Bank. She was voted teller of the year and had many opportunities for promotion and moving up the ladder, but chose to remain part time, prioritizing her family.
Selma moved to Minnesota in September of 2017 to be cared for by her son and daughter-in-law. She lived at an assisted living facility until COVOD-19 struck, when she moved into the home of her son and daughter-in-law for the last 5 months of her life. Everyone who interacted with Selma was attracted to her by the warmness she exuded. She had smiles & hugs for everyone. She will be greatly missed.
Selma was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ruby Larsen, her nephew, Michael Larsen, and her brother-in-law Jack Berman. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Renae Allen, by her sister-in-laws Roslyn Berman and Phoebe Larsen, by her nephew and niece Allan Berman and Stacey Horowitz and their five children.
