Stephen Donald Bayer's Obituary
Stephen Donald Bayer, age 89, passed away from complications related to heart and kidney disease on August 28, 2023. A resident of Delray Beach, he is survived by his two sons, Mark (Janice) and Rich (Marge), his four grandchildren, Matt (Betty), Stephen, Leah (Paul Tarantino), and Hannah, and two great grandchildren, Mary and Bruce. He is also survived by his brother, Allen (Peggy), sister in law, Irene, and brother in law, Charles. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Enid.
Born on December 25, 1933, Steve grew up in Rockville Centre, New York, where he was an Eagle Scout. After graduation graduating from Indiana University, he was a pilot in the Air Force, rising to the rank of Captain. After his honorable discharge in 1959, he was a long time resident of Massapequa, New York, before moving to Florida in 2002.
After a long and successful career as a manufacturer’s representative, Steve was an avid volunteer. His passion was the American Red Cross, where served as a disaster responder and national spokesperson for many years. He also volunteered for the Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue, the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Department and the Agency for Aging.
A graveside ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 10:30 am, at the Beth Moses Cemetary, 1500 Wellwood Ave., West Babylon, New York.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 10:00am at Beth Israel Chapel, 11115 Jog Rd., Boynton Beach, Florida 33437.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Red Cross, or the charity of your choice, in Steve’s name.
